LEM vs Weston Meat Grinder (Which One is Better?)

In the meat grinder industry LEM and Weston, both are reputable and manufacture top-notch meat grinders. We become confused when we have multiple options like the LEM and Weston. No doubt both meat grinders are worthy of money.

But there are some differences between these models. Because they manufacture multiple models with some exclusive features.

In this article, I will guide you through the advantages, disadvantages, features, and recommendations of these meat grinders. Without further ado, let’s get started.

LEM Meat Grinders

LEM meat grinder is known as the big bite series. This is the economic series from LEM and they manufacture this series to meet the demand of all kinds of people. You have the flexibility to choose any size from this Big bite series.

Since this is a premium series of meat grinders, the price is comparatively higher than the other brands. But they are worthy of money.

LEM big Bite series offer 5 different size. They are #5, #8, #12, #22, and #32.

Weston Meat Grinders

Weston offers three different series for example Pro, Butcher, and regular series. The pro series is equivalent to the LEM big bite series. The price of the pro series is premium like the LEM Big Bite series.

Weston Pro series has 4 different sizes like #8, #12, #22, and #32. That means you will not get the #5 size from the Weston meat grinder. If you need a smaller size, you could consider the #8 or #12 size.

LEM vs Weston meat grinder

LEM vs Weston Meat Grinder

#5 size Grinder

LEM has a #5 size grinder. On the other hand, Weston doesn’t offer a #5 size grinder. So, in this category, you don’t have any choice. Let’s see what LEM offers.

This is a .35 HP meat grinder from LEM. The power consumption is 250 watts.  The size of the meat pan is 1-1/4” x 9-1/8” x 2-1/4”. You can grind up to 240-pound meat per hour with the smallest LEM grinder.

The main drawback of this small grinder is the input size. You have to cut the meat into small sizes to grind. You cannot give the larger size meatloaf directly into this grinder.

Considering this point, the LEM #5 size is enough for a small family. Since it is a premium quality grinder, the performance is satisfying.

You will get a 5-years warranty with this grinder. Moreover, LEM offers lifetime free support. So that is incredible.

#8 size Grinder

Both the Weston and LEM have a #8 size Grinder. This is larger than the #5 size grinder.

The LEM #8 comes with a .5 HP motor and power consumption is 370 watts. The size of the meat pan is 12-1/4” x 9-1/8” x 2-1/4”. You can grind up to 360-pound meat per hour with this LEM big bite grinder.

On the other hand, the Weston #8 comes with .75 HP. And the power consumption is 550 watts. You can grind up to 360-pound meat per hour with this grinder.

The price of LEM #8 is a bit more than Weston #8.

#12 size Grinder

Both the LEM and Weston have a #12 size meat grinder. The LEM #12 size comes with .75 HP and the power consumption is 550 watts.

On the other hand, the Weston #12 comes with a 1 HP motor and the power consumption is 750 watts.

You can grind up to 7-9 lbs. meat per hour by the Weston and 10 lbs. meat per hour by the LEM.

With the LEM #12 size, you will get a 5-years warranty and with the Weston, you will get a 1-year warranty.

#22 size Grinder

LEM and Weston have the #22 size Grinder. Both grinders are sturdy and heavy-duty but only the Weston offers a reverse function motor. These are commercial-level grinders indeed.

The LEM #22 size Grinder comes with a 1 HP motor and the power consumption is 755 watts. You can grind up to 13 lbs. meat per minute with this LEM #22 size.

On the other hand, the Weston #22 size comes with a 1.5 HP motor and the power consumption is 1125 watts. You can grind up to 9-12 lbs. meat per minute with this Weston #22.

#32 size Grinder

The Weston #32 comes with a 2 HP air-cooled reverse motor. On the other hand, the LEM #32 comes with a 1.5 HP motor. The reverse function is not available in LEM #32.

You can grind approximately 17 lbs. meat per minute with the LEM #32 size. And with the Weston, you could grind approximately 12-18 lbs. meat per minute.

What Should You Consider Before Buying Meat Grinder?

Reverse Function Motor

The reverse function is important for the motors that come with less power. Although the LEM and Weston both are premium brands, you will get the reverse function in Weston #22 and Weston #32.

However, the presence of the reverse function doesn’t matter for the LEM big bite series. Their performance is incredible indeed.

Anyway, if you consider the reverse function, I will suggest you buy the Weston pro series. Usually, we don’t need such a powerful meat grinder for home use.

Cleaning

Honestly, the cleaning process for the meat grinder is time-consuming. However, you can easily clean both of the meat grinders. But it takes time.

Feeding Tube

The diameter of the feeding tube is important for convenience. The Weston Pro series comes with a larger feeding tube than the LEM Big Bite series. So, Weston is the winner here.

Grinding Bones

You can grind bones with both grinders. But all the models are not suitable for grinding bones.

With the LEM #12, #22, and #32 and the Weston #22 and #32, you could grind the bones.

Either LEM or Weston no one offers a guarantee for grinding bones. But many of the users grind the soft bones like a chicken with these models.

I would suggest you not grind the thick bones like the beef or lamb with these grinders.

Warranty

LEM offers a 5-years warranty for the Big Bite series. On the other hand, Weston offers a 1-year warranty. So, the LEM is the winner in this segment.

Final Thoughts

Both the LEM and Weston are worthy of money. If you are looking for after-service support, you could buy the LEM because they offer a longer warranty than the Weston.

On the other hand, if you are looking for a large meat grinder with an air colloid reverse engine, you could consider the Weston.

You can easily use these grinders for a decade like the other people. Thanks for being with me.
